GEMSTONES

Do you offer GIA certified diamonds and gemstones ?

Yes. All diamonds we sell are AGS or GIA certified. Our unheated, untreated sapphires are also certified. 

What is a AGS or GIA certificate?

A certificate from the Gemological Institute of America (GIA) specifies the color, clarity, cut, and carat weight of a diamond. GIA reports represent the highest standard of reliability, consistency and integrity. A certificate from American Gem Society (AGS) also represents the highest standards of qualifications.

What are the "Four C's"?

Every diamond is unique. The 4 C's (color, clarity, cut, carat) represent the global standard for judging and analyzing the characteristics of a diamond. Color refers the amount of color in diamond. Diamonds which are pure and colorless have the greatest value. Clarity refers to the absence of inclusions and blemishes. The evaluation of diamond clarity depends a number of factors including the placement and visibility of inclusions and blemishes. Cut refers to how the diamond's facets interact with light, and depends on its proportions and symmetry. A diamond with an excellent cut will sparkle brilliantly. Carat refers to how much a diamond weighs. Precise measurements are taken to the 100th decimal place.

Are your diamonds and gemstones ethically and sustainably sourced?

We are committed to sustainable, green and ethical production processes. All sourcing is done in accordance with these initiatives including the use of recycled metals and conflict free stones. 

How do you procure diamonds and other gemstones? 

Judith travels the world to find the finest of gemstones.

Are any of your diamonds laser treated, clarity enhanced, color enhanced, or modified in any way?

No.

How can I make sure the diamonds I receive are actually the diamonds I ordered?

We ship every loose diamond and diamond engagement ring with an independent GIA, AGS, or other qualified lab report. This report can be examined by a qualified gemologist and compared against the unique characteristics of your diamond.

Are the gemstones used in your jewelry natural or synthetic?

Judith Arnell Jewelers specializes in unheated, untreated natural gemstones. The jewelry we create uses only natural gemstones. On occasion, we will use a lab-created gemstone only at a customer's request.

Are any of the gemstones used in your jewelry heat treated?
Sapphires are traditionally heat-treated although we have a large collection of natural, unheated sapphires.

 

CUSTOM ORDERS

What if I want a custom design?  How can I begin the special order process? 

We have developed our custom process so that your piece can be made exactly to your vision. This includes a CAD (Computer Assisted Design) drawing as well as your selection of gemstones. You can begin the process by calling us at 503-227-3437 so we can assess your needs and provide options. Can I custom design an engagement ring? Do you work with clients remotely?

Yes. We will work with you anywhere in the United States. We have worked with many satisfied clients remotely. We communicate via telephone, email, and text to discuss style options and update you throughout the process.

Can I use my own stone in a custom piece? What about metals?

Yes! Many of our clients use family heirlooms and we love helping you to reimagine and create new pieces. We are able to repurpose metals as well.

How quickly can I get my jewelry made and do you provide rush service?

The length of a custom order depends on the type of work done. Custom pieces typically take 4 weeks to complete. 

Do you provide engraving services?

Yes. We offer hand engraving as well as machine engraving depending on your needs.

 

SERVICES & PAYMENTS

Do you provide financing?

We offer financing through Synchrony. 6, 12, and 18 month programs are available. 

Can I pay with two different credit cards?
Yes. If you'd like pay with two different cards, please place your order over the phone with customer service at 503-227-3437

What is your shipping method? Do you ship internationally?

We offer FedEx Overnight and USPS Priority 2 Day shipping. Learn more on our Shipping page.

What is your return/exchange policy?

Can I get an appraisal or evaluation report? 

We are happy to provide you with an evaluation report and/or appraisal. An evaluation report documents the retail value of your piece for insurance purposes once your purchase is complete. We can also provide an independent appraisal for your jewelry. Learn more on our Jewelry Services page. 

Do you provide insurance?

We recommend that you insure your jewelry but we do not offer insurance directly through Judith Arnell Jewelers.

Do you provide warranties? What is covered by your warranty?

We provide a one-year warranty against manufacturing defects. Warranty does not cover customer wear and tear. 

Do you repair jewelry and/or watches? 

Watch battery replacements and damaged jewelry pieces can be repaired by us. Fees for this service will vary according to the extent of the repair.

Will I be charged sales tax on my order?

No. Sales tax is not charged in the state of Oregon.

What if my jewelry gets lost during shipment?
All shipments we send are insured. Please call 503-227-3437 for any questions.

Are your shipments secure?
Yes. Our items are fully insured during transit. All purchases require a signature at the time of delivery. 

What if I need help placing an order?

We can assist you in placing an order. You may call us during business hours Monday through Saturday, 10am to 5:30pm PST. You can also send us a message anytime. 

What if I have a question about my order, want to change it, or need to cancel it?
